RedHat’s response to Steve Ballmer’s claim

Filed under: Uncategorized — ctrambler @ 3:52 pm

RedHat’s response to Steve Ballmer’s recently repeated claims that users of Red Hat owns it money is calm and collected. Nothing new in there. Ballmer’s recycled the claim and RedHat had responsed by recycling its previous statements on the matter. It has to. Its hand is forced.

If I were Red Hat, I probably would had responsed with a counter-tirade. However, RedHat’s approach is better. It is a mature, dignified and gentlemanly approach compared to Ballmer’s teenage “thuggish” style.

I don’t know about businessman’s approach to ethics. All I can say is Ballmer’s claim is unethical from a programmers community viewpoint. It is fine to claim that people own you respect for your intellectual property but you have to back up your claim by showing your cards.
